Women’s football will make its debut in an event expected to attract all 47 counties
Kakamega county will host this year's Kenya Inter County Sports and Cultural Association Games scheduled for 23-30 November.
The games, going into their 11th edition, will be held in Mumias and Kakamega towns, with all 47 counties expected to participate.
That would mark an improvement from last year, where 37 were involved in Meru.
Aligning with Kakamega winning their hosting bid ahead of Mombasa and Nyeri, KICOSCA on Friday 15 November installed the county's Governor Hon. Fernandes Baraza as the new games patron.
Speaking of his new position in a KICOSCA meeting, Baraza told members: "I would like to confirm to everyone that the Governing Council made the right call. It is such a privilege to be named patron and I promise to deliver one of the most exciting games."
This year, women’s football will make its debut in the competition, joining up with the other 26 sporting and cultural disciplines on show.

"Kakamega is the cathedral of sports and it is our intention to dominate as we have shown in the past," Baraza added. "We invite everyone to an incredible week of competition, and it is my hope that at the end of it all, Kenya will emege as the winner."
As per the events calendar seen by Mozzart Sport, Kakamega county's football team will take on Nairobi in the first game that will accompany the opening ceremony on 24 November.
On the same day, Kakamega will battle Nakuru in the women's tug-of-war, with Laikipia taking on Machakos in the men's division.
